The First Place a Floor Fails

A semi-rigid joint filler is a two-component compound installed in the saw-cut control joints of a concrete slab — firm enough (Shore A 91) to support hard forklift wheels crossing the joint, with 242% elongation (ASTM D412) to tolerate the slab's normal working movement. Filled flush and shaved, it protects joint shoulders from chipping and seals out water, fines, and bacteria. Maverick's semi-rigid joint filler is MavJoint JF, offered in six standard colors.

Hard polyurethane forklift wheels concentrate enormous load on a contact patch the size of a coin. When that wheel crosses an open joint, the unsupported edge chips — and every pass makes it worse. MavJoint JF transfers that load across the joint instead of into it.

MavJoint JF is a two-component joint filler — an accessory to every Maverick floor system, not a system of its own. We honor every existing joint: each is marked, the cut is carried through the resinous system only, a backer rod is set, and MavJoint JF goes in over it and is tooled flush. Rigid enough to support wheel loads, flexible enough to tolerate normal slab movement — and every control, expansion, and isolation joint gets filled, without exception.

MavJoint JF Joint Cross-Section

Every existing joint is honored. The slab's original saw-cut layout is marked and chalk-lined and the cut is carried through the resinous system only. A polyethylene backer rod is set in the joint, then MavJoint JF is installed over it and tooled flush with the finished floor — control, expansion and isolation joints alike. A polyethylene backer rod is then set in the joint — sized over the joint width so it compresses in, which holds the filler depth and breaks the bond at the base of the joint — and MavJoint JF is installed over it and tooled flush with the finished floor. Control, expansion and isolation joints all get this treatment. Every joint gets filled, without exception.
